Some lyrics from the song by Savage Garden which i think really capture the depth of androgyny. Its interesting because it can be expressed through song, fashion and behaviour all in one in this music video.

it is clear that YSL is responsible for the 'gender blending' in fashion, their stefano's latest collection Uni-Sex represents the idea for women in mens clothes. the androgynous collection includes high waisted shorts, chic trenches and pastel cardigans.

In this day the term uni-sex is used frequently in fashion, however what im trying to work out is the difference between uni-sex and androgyny.
We have uni-sex which is the term for something being suitable for both men and women, and then there is the term androgyny which means both male and female, a mixture of the two.
I think a collection designed uni-sex is one which may be worn by both male and female where as an androgenous collection may just be influenced by both men and women style but only be for men or women.
